The Forum, held on 11th – 13th March, 2025, featured Francisco Gallardo del Puerto, coordinator of the Master’s in Second Language Learning and Teaching, representing the Faculty of Education (UC). He participated as a speaker in the round table discussion on Perspectives for Multilingualism in Educational Centers.

A round table discussion featured contributions from Sarah Breslin (ECML), Francisco Gallardo (University of Cantabria), Javier Montero (UAEE, MEFPD), Pilar García (EOI Torrelavega), Mónica García (IES Fuente Fresnedo, Laredo), and Ángel Fernández (CEIP Los Torreones, Cartes). The session was moderated by Azucena Gozalo from the Cantabrian Education Inspection Service.

The program is detailed below:

During the three days of discussions, reflection, and learning, the Forum served as a vital platform for exchanging experiences and best practices in integrated language learning. Special emphasis was placed on the CLIL/AICLE approach and the cognitive and academic benefits of multilingualism for students.
Notable speakers included:
- Manuel Carreiras, director of the BCBL, who provided insights into multilingualism from a neuroscience perspective.
- Sarah Breslin, director of the ECML, who introduced innovative European language teaching resources.
- David Marsh, professor at the University of Jyväskylä and a pioneer of the CLIL/AICLE approach, who shared his global expertise in promoting multilingual education.
- María Elena Gómez, professor at the University of Córdoba, who examined student perceptions of bilingual education in Spain.
Additionally, representatives from institutions such as the British Council, Alliance Française, Institut Français, Goethe-Institut, Official Language Schools, and CRIEME contributed by sharing educational resources and strengthening international collaboration in foreign language teaching.
