The LEAL research group proudly took part in the 17th International Conference on Native and Non-Native Accents of English (ACCENTS 2024), held in Łódź, Poland (12th-14th December, 2024).
This annual conference is organized by the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics at the University of Łódź, bringing together leading researchers and teachers with a shared interest in English accents -native and non-native-, approached from a variety of theoretical and practical perspectives. Each year, the conference explores topics such as individual accent characteristics, the evolution of accent usage, effective strategies for teaching and learning accents, and innovative tools for accent studies.
The topic of Accents 2024 focuses on accent teaching and learning in various instructional contexts, including EFL, ESL, ELF and EIL, as well as classroom-based or laboratory research. Thus, different contexts and 21st-century challenges require the application of appropriate research methodologies so as to analyse and investigate pronunciation learning and its effectiveness.
