Marta Gómez Martínez
Associate Professor
Marta Gómez Martínez, Graduate and PhD in Spanish Language, and Graduate in English Philology, is Associate Professor at the University of Cantabria (2014-). She was a teacher at the University of La Rioja (2008-2013). She has been a researcher at the Instituto Historia de la Lengua de Cilengua (San Millán de la Cogolla. La Rioja; from 2007 to 2014), where she was director of the jpurnal Cuadernos del IHL and coordinator of both, the collection of monographs and the glossaries; she has also been part of the research team at the Fundación Rafael Lapesa, Real Academia Española (Madrid; from 2006 to 2007), in charge of the scientific vocabulary for the Diccionario histórico de la lengua española (DHLE). She has been a visiting scholar at the the University Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Spain), the University of Aarhus (Denmark) and the University of Utretch (The Netherlands).
Her current teaching involves undergraduate courses in English Language and Methodology for Second Language Teaching as well as postgraduate courses in the Master’s program Second Language Learning and Teaching at the University of Cantabria (Spain). Her areas of research interest gather the history of specialized vocabulary and the process of teaching and learning, both in English and Spanish.
She was Vice Dean for International Relations and Extension Courses at the Faculty of Education, University of Cantabria (2015-2022). Currently, she is Academic Director for Internationalisation at Home at the Vice Rectorate for Internationalisation and Global Engagement (University of Cantabria).
